I am currently living in Chicago and discovering what it means to make art on my own. Some themes throughout my photography are the inner being, perspective, mortality, disillusionment, and sexuality.
My two newest projects are 1)dolls and 2)urban decay. My photographs of urban decay derived from a study of composition. I have always photographed people, so it is a new challenge for me to capture psychology and feeling in architecture. These photographs are often little vignettes of run down locations. I intend to show the sadness of aging and the reality of mortality, which I have experienced first hand through the death of my father.
One of the main issues I am dealing with in the doll photographs is sexuality. Our society tends to look down on sexual deviants, and we have a strict set of "taboo" items which people just do not do. Additionally, as a society we bring up little girls to feel ashamed of their own natural sexuality. By photographing dolls- inanimate objects which resemble humans- I am exploring these ideas.
